Sports Toto Malaysia Sdn Bhd will be distributing Chinese New Year gifts worth RM650,000 to about 14,000 needy senior citizens of various races whose ages are 60 years and above beginning from 16th Jan to 24th Jan 2003.
Sports Toto Malaysia Executive Director Ng Foo Leong announced that this year's Chinese New Year Ang Pow donation would be officially launched by YB Dato' Chan Kong Choy, Deputy Minister of Finance on Thursday, 16th January 2003 at 9.30 am at the Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall, Kuala Lumpur.
Ng said, "this is the fifteenth year Sports Toto is organizing this donation campaign under the company's "giving something back to the society" charity program."
Ng was speaking during a press conference announcing "Sports Toto Chinese New Year Ang Pow Donation campaign 2003" today.
He added that posters informing recipeints of the date, time and venue of the ang pow donation would be displayed at all the Toto outlets from tomorrow.
He said, "each recipient will receive an ang pow and a mini hamper."
He added, for the convenience of folks who find it difficult to travel to the distribution centres, especially those who stay in old folk's' home, Sports Toto would charter buses to fetch them to the venue to receive their gifts. A mobile distribution van would be sent to Ulu Yam and Rasa on the morning of January 16 to distribute ang pows and mini hampers to recipients in that area.
The nationwide charity donation campaign will begin from 16th Jan and end on 24th Jan 2003. Distribution centres will be set up in Northern, Central, Southern regions and in East Malaysia.
